Thankyou for visiting this site. My name is David Maxim and I live and work in Somerset as a cabinetmaker. I mainly do commissioned pieces but also work on small batch productions. From your initial contact with me your idea can then be designed. From the design I will then be able to present to you the drawings and the specifications. From this I work closely with you and listen to any concerns and changes that you may like to take place. After this I will give you a price and a time for delivery. During the construction stage you are welcome to keep in contact with me as I will with you as to the progress of your commissioned piece or pieces.

The type of woods that I work with are mainly native hardwoods such as OAK / ASH / WALNUT and CHERRY. Although I do work with many other timbers that you may desire such as Mahogany,Yew, and many other exotic woods. But please bear in mind I do not purchace any tropical timber that is not from a managed forestry.The choice is yours, and I am always able to advise on specific timbers.

The design of furniture ranges from period reproduction to traditional and contemporary pieces. If you can imagine it, I can design it with you. From rough sketches or pictures, or photos you may have. I also build and install solid wood fitted kitchens and also free standing pieces.

My passion for wood and working with a medium that has a warmth and beauty all of its own has remained with me for the past thirty years, and I still feel a sense of humble pride as I construct each individual piece from rough plank to the finished article. Please rest assured that as for price many of the articles made by me may seem  expensive to some, but in comparison to what you might see on the high street that is mass produced, you may be pleasantly surprised.
